Testing Drivers

In the February issue of Golf Magazine they had a special feature of testing twenty seven drivers. They used 40 golfers with various handicaps to test certain drivers and give their evaluation of each. This was to find the best drivers for each individual type of golfer. They were divided into three categories as Tour with golfers from 2-11 handicap, next level was Game-improvement with 7-15 handicap followed by Max Game-improvement with 13-21 handicap.

The made sure they had the proper drivers for each group of researchers. They used Hot-Stick Golf to custom fit all 40 testers with TrackMan launch monitors to capture the data of all testers. They used fitters to match testers with the test clubs as it is important to properly fit the tester to the driver. This is a feature of see, try and buy used to see that you get the right driver for your gamev.

The article lists all 40 golfers who tested these drivers, their picture, name, handicap and rest of their personal information. This was interesting there was all ages and from a 2 handicap to 21 plus more information that you wanted to know. Of course except to each of them plus their friends and family.

The Tour group of drivers were listed with the Adams Speedline 9032LS prices at $369 with graphite shaft was first. The Bridgestone J38 460 followed for $399.00 with graphite shaft with a comment that this driver delivers plenty of roll on solid hits. The Callaway Diablo Edge Tour for $299.00 with graphite shaft and it said good accuracy in windy conditions. Cleveland Launcher DST Tour for $299.00 with graphite shaft followed by Ping i15, Srixon Z-TX, Nike VR Str8-Fit, with many more but last was TayorMade R9 TP with moveable weights to alter flight of the ball.

In the Game Improvement Driver the Adams Speedline Fast ID for $299.00 as they commented on as the typical flight is high and straight. Callaway FT-iZ for $399.00 followed by Nike SQ Machspeed Str8-fit for $299.00. There are ten drivers listed in this category with all the same statistics listed in the Tour group. They all list the Pro’s and Con of what the testers thought of each driver.

In the Max Game Improvement drivers only five drivers were listed in this test with first by Ping G15 Draw for $299.00 followed by Wilson Smooth for $349.00 following this it remarked that the Smooth helps you hit more fairways. The final three were the Your Edge Bazooka HT Max for $149.00, Mizuno MP-630 for $299.00 and the Cobra S2 Offset for $249.00.

If a golfer is ready to look into getting a new driver this year it would be a good idea to read all the information about these drivers. Contact a good dealer and give this “See, Try and Buy” or find this February issue of Golf Magazine.
