Duramed FUTURES Tour Update

Duramed FUTURES Tour Update
This review will be of the past week’s Duramed FUTURES Tour tournament in Florida and the next event coming this week in Mexico. The Florida’s Natural Charity Classic in Winter Haven started off great with great weather and hot golfers making big numbers. It all went well until the last day and wind and rains poured down so they had to cancel the last day. The many golfers from around the world lounged around the club house during the heavy rains until the big news of calling it off.

That left Angela Oh of Maples Shade, New Jersey and Jan Rah or Torrance, California in a tie with seven under. That meant they had to have a play off if they could find a dry or mostly dry golf hole to play. The 18th hole was too near the lake and was well saturated so they went to a par three hole to start the play off. Officials located a dry hole and the two players were sent out to finish on this 154 yard 17th hole. Oh won by putting in a four foot putt for a birdie so the playoff only lasted that one hole and win her first professional golf tournament. She won $14,000 winner’s check and a Bulova watch.

This week the Duramed FUTURES Tour will be in Mexico for its first tournament and the Mexican players are happy about that. Welcoming the other players to their homeland the Mexican players are hoping their guest will enjoy their stay here and think of Mexico and a golfing country. Even though Mexico is known for their soccer teams and bull fighting but there are eight Mexican players competing in this weeks event.

The Riviera Nayarit Challenge at El Tigre Golf and Country Club at Nueva Vallarta, Nayarit will impress the golfers and leave with a lasting positive outlook on golfing in Mexico. When one thinks of the Mexican Women’s golfer we think of Lorena Ochoa with many other great Mexican women golfers have played in the Women’s professional circuit. Most of those golfer have played for American Universities so they are familiar to Americans fans.

Playing with Duramed FUTURES Tour is a dream of many young girls who have a desire to make it to the LPGA and this Tour is a good ticket to work for that goal. The Mexican girls are excited to have the Tour come to their country and hope it will interest young girls and boys to want to work at their golf game and make it to the Tour someday.
These girls all appreciate what Ochoa has done for golf in Mexico and playing professional golf in the United States. They all know that if it wasn’t for Ochoa people would not relate Mexico to golf. They all realize that having the Duramed FUTURES Tour coming to Mexico will help that a great deal.

Since it has not been that long that having women playing sports was not acceptable but that has changed. With more women in Mexico becoming more athletic and are making waves that women can be successful. The girls are now saying that golf teaches you so much as you have to abide by the rules, use your own talents and create discipline and confidence in oneself.
