FUTURES Tour Arrives in Iowa

Guest Author - Letta Meinen

The Titan Tire Challenge arrives in Marion, Iowa at the Hunter Ridge Golf Course. Marion Iowa is a suburb of Cedar Rapid, Iowa in eastern Iowa. The FUTURES Tour also played here last year and it was won by Mina Harigae of Monterey, California with a margin of victory of ten strokes. That was superb playing as Whitney Meyers was Runner Up from York, Pennsylvania.

The FUTURES Tour of 2010 will be held on June 4th to the 6th with the Pro Am held on the 2nd and 3rd of June. The winner this year will receive $15,000 and runner up $11,000 from a total purse of $11,000. The Junior League of Cedar Rapids with be the beneficiary of this tournament. Each city holding the FUTURES Tour always donates to some worthy cause whenever they hold a tournament in that city.

Along with the Hunters Ridge Golf Course the Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitor Bureau were proud to announce that they are bringing back the FUTURES Tour to Eastern Iowa. They will be holding a junior clinic, an adult clinic plus the Pro-Am events during the week they are in Iowa.

Players on the FUTURES Tour are from 31 countries around the world and they are impressive to watch these talented ladies work to become the best so they can earn their way into the LPGA tour. This is a great event to come to Iowa to watch the best young professional golfers in the world as they try to place high in the standings or be amongst the 10 best money winners of the year.

This is the time for those living in the Cedar Rapids from central Iowa to plan to take the time to attend this tournament. There will be 144 of the world’s best golfers that you will be able to observe up close and personal. I am sure you will be able to volunteer so you really will get to know these golfers. Make them feel welcome to Iowa as this is one of 17 stops of the FUTURES Tour as it travels across United States.

Volunteers have the opportunity to be a marshal on the course or driving a cart during the tournament. You will enjoy being a part of a professional golf tournament and this tournament could use over 400 volunteers to support this event. You will receive a day pass so find out if your services can be used to help this to be a successful event.
