The Shape of Things To Come

The Shape of Things to Come

It's no secret that ethnic beauties are typically more well endowed when it comes to breast, hips and thighs. Therefore, we've always looked for undergarments that would help to control the movement of our physical parts from time to time.

In todays market, they're known as body shapers. You've seen them, everything from Spanx to the Genie Line (bra's, leggings). Everywhere you look there's a line of "shapers" sold from Walmart to your upscale department stores.

Who needs shapers and what are they?

As we mature, our bodies begin to choose directions that we never thought existed. I for one am trying to figure out where I got this belly fat from. I could say it's heredity, however, I never ate like any of my relatives. Be that as it may, my body is still in a mode of "Change", lol!

As your body changes, for those of you that don't exercise, a shaper is usually your choice for controlling the extra "You." A little support beneath your A-line or pencil skirts or those slacks you want to look like they were tailored for your body, is when you'll use a shaper.

Shapers are the modern day version of the girdle. I remember my Mom telling me to wear my girdle, especially when it was my personal time of the month. I couldn't figure out why I needed a girdle, I was 110 lbs with clothes on, wet. The elders used to say "girdles help control the shape of your body, they help form your curves". I'm twenty one for the third time and I'm just getting curves.

I will say, the new shapewear is much lighter than the old fashion girdles. The technology used in the fabrics allow you to get the same benefits of contouring and shaping as the old fashion girdle. Not only are there shapers that control your hips and thighs, the leggings will taper everything all the way to your ankles.

Recent studies done on breast cancer patients, show that underwire bras could be the culprit to a lot of the discomfort experienced by women. The new shape wear allows you to have full support for your "girls" without the irritation and discomfort of underwire in your bras. I remember my Grandmother's had enough breast to share with a community, I did not inherit that feature, and you never saw them sagging. The bras did not have underwire, yet they were made with material that gave support and had the "girls" saluting the sun everyday.

The new shapers can give you full support from chest to toe. It's all about knowing what you need and how to choose them. Who needs Shapewear? We all do at some point in life.

That's it for this week,
