White Golf Grips a New Fad

It seems the golfing industry is always looking for something new that will cause the addictive golfer to get the latest craze. It seems the White grips are catching on and several golf companies have they for sale. My new Golf Week magazine had them featured with three companies advertising their wares, as Golf Pride, Winn and Lamkin. These were introduced this year and these companies were surprised about the success so far.

It seems Phil Mickelson was the first to put them on his clubs. This year the white and black have sold far more than any other color. Golf Pride was first with its MiltiCompound cord grip called Tour Wrap Standard 2G and it was pictures in the magazine selling for $4.50. Following up was the Winnís white entry called the WinnLite Firm called the Skinny and suggested used for low-handicap players and sells for $8.99.

Following these two white grips was the Lamkin and it Performance Plus 2GEN another skinny and states that it resists environmental aging and weathering and cost $7.99. The article also mentions that keeping the white grips clean. It suggested cleaning the grips with a soft, wet towel and a little soap. It states that the grips should never be submerged in water but suggests a soft brush works well in keeping them clean. The grips are sealed onto the shaft with double sided tape or felt and if that gets wet your grips will slide around during your swing.

The Lamkin director of Markening suggested that with the white grips you will notice when they get dirty so keep them clean. He says that many golfers never clean their grips and I can attest to that as never thought of cleaning mine. I can understand that would be a good thing as sweaty dirty hands during the summer can make those grips very slippery. I will have to check on mine and see about cleaning them.

I canít say I plan to rush out and have all my clubs re-gripped with these new white grips even though the Golf Pride which I have is very reasonable I believe I prefer black. I do like to keep up on anything new with golfing equipment but white grips are always down inside your bag so no one sees them until you take them out to hit your ball. I can see the Proís would want to try them out as it sure will create a buying frenzy for the normal golfer wanted the newest items.
