Welcome to the July 16th edition of the BellaOnline Anime Newsletter!
I'm very excited to report that I have launched the first in a set of three articles about the history of anime. While I had to split the history of anime up into three different articles, each one can be read as a stand-alone article. I learned quite a bit while researching for these articles, and I hope you learn something new about anime as well. This article is also a "Featured Article" on the front page of the Anime website. This first article is titled, "Anime History: The Beginning," and it covers the early 1900's through the late 1950's/early 1960's. A link to this article can be found later in this newsletter.
This week, I also posted an overview article for Trigun in the "Current Anime" section of the website, as well as added some Trigun-related words to the list for the Anime word games. I have also shut down the Trigun section of the Anime website. Like Sailor Moon, I just don't have enough to keep maintaining a Trigun section. I apologize for any inconvenience the removal of this section may cause any of my readers. A link to the new Trigun overview article can be found later in this newsletter.
I have also added a review of the Ranma 1/2 second season box set to the "Anime Reviews" section of the Anime website. The box set has been added to the Anime Shop, and is now featured in the "Editor's Recommendation" area of the main website for the Anime section. A link to the review can be found later in this newsletter.
Over the past couple of weeks, there has been some big news coming out concerning anime and the industry. I use BellaOnline's Anime forum to start topics about these news and issues. If you haven't been following the forum lately, here are some headlines that you may have missed:
*Sci Fi Channel renews Ani-Monday Block
*FUNimation agrees to distribute some Geneon titles
*ADV discontinues DVD titles
*FUNimation picks up over 30 former ADV titles
*FUNimation and YouTube strike content agreement
*Toonami Jetstream service hosting Kiba anime
*New Inuyasha short to debut at Takahashi exhibit
If you'd like to learn more about any of these topics, or would like to contribute to these discussions, you can use the link to the Anime forum that is included later in this newsletter.
