Beer Fox Tip of the Week:
Those ahead of the flavor curve understand the value of good beer. Entenmann's, a division of George Weston Bakeries of New York, introduces powdered sugar donuts, infused with a specially brewed ale, to their Connecticut, New Jersey New York and Pennsylvania markets in January, 2007. The ale is a specialty item, specifically brewed with a flavor profile that will enhance the sweet treats.
Entenmann's has plans to introduce other desserts with eye-catching liquors - Nice party foods such as One-fifty-one Rum Cake and Vodka Cranberry Muffins.
Here's to innovation!
Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:
A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.
The first does a total make over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.
The man was impressed.
The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes.
As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.
Again, the man is impressed.
The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.
Obviously, the man was impressed.
The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.
Then, he married the one with the biggest boobs. Men are like that, you know.
There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with voluptuous figures and assertive masculinity and absolutely no recollection of what to do with either.
Beer News
As a tribute to Gordon Knight, who served as a crusader of the craft beer movement in Colorado, a Vietnam veteran, and a firefighting hero who gave his life in an aviation-related accident in 2002 while fighting wild fires on the perimeter of Lyons, Colorado, Oskar Blues Brewery has released "Gordon", its red Double IPA as a year round beer...hand-canned, just like other Oskar Blues favorites, Dale's Pale Ale and Old Chub Scottish Style Ale.
Gordon, like the hero it represents, is extreme, intense, and has a memorable finish. It has 8.7% ABV and 85 IBU's. Crafted with a blend of 6 different malts, three hops, and final dry-hopping with Amarillo of the finest Pacific Northwest variety, it has aromas of pine needles and light fruit, rich malts and a mouthfeel that demands attention.
Craft Beer of the Week Award
Double Barrel Ale - Batch 1000 - Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, California, USA
Style: Extra Special/ Bitter Ale
Coppery red with creamy, off-white head, Batch 1000 is a special, commemorative edition celebrating the 1,000th batch at the Paso Robles brewery. Unfiltered, bottle conditioned, and fermented in new American oak barrels, this beauty emits aromas of toasty malts, delicate earth and sweet vanilla. Flavors are smooth - citrus, caramel and toffee malts with lavish layers of vanilla that paint the mouth like burnished silk.
Cheers!
