Greetings!

The winter solstice has come and gone, and here in Chistochina we are gaining daylight at the rate of just over a minute a day, giving us about seven hours of visible light. In locales further north, such as Noatak (just above the article circle) they are gaining visible light at the rate of 12 minutes per day, though they have yet to see the sun rise above the horizon yet. This turning point in the year is something all Alaskans look forward to, no matter how much we enjoy winter and no matter how far north or south we live in the state.
