I have been watching the news reports about Nome and the difficulty they are having getting the fuel for winter they ordered three months ago. The recent storms have caused them to become ice blocked and the fuel ship cannot make it into them. Now the Coast Guard is looking to see if their ice cutters can help out any. So I got to thinking, where exactly is Nome, and what's all the fuss about a little place in Alaska? Inspiration for the next article!
