'I am the Emperor of Germany, but you are the emperor of chefs.'
Emperor William II of Germany was speaking to Georges-Auguste Escoffier, the famous French chef, and it probably wasn't about his Apple Crumb Cake.
However here is a recipe for 'Streuselkuchen' that might even have impressed Escoffier himself.
GERMAN APPLE CRUMB CAKE RECIPE
Four o'clock in the afternoon means it is time for Kaffee und Kuchen, coffee and cake, it is a social tradition in Germany, and one of the most popular cakes to be chosen to accompany that cup of coffee will be 'Streuselkuchen'.
A delicious Fruit Crumble Cake.

VOKUHILA is the 'Quirky' word of the week.
Actually it is not even 'a word', but a combination of the first two letters of four words:
'vorne kurz, hinten lang'........'Short in the front, long in the back'
And it refers to a 'hair related' 1980s fashion phenomenon that sometimes looked quite bizarre, and which some of you might even remember - The Mullet.
