Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

May Bock, or Maibock, is a seasonal version of Bock Beer, amber in color, and marketed in the Spring, when the colder winter has given in to Mother Nature's warmth. It was designed to give inner warmth to those who strolled into the biergarten, while winds might still be chilly. It is malty, with the prominent character of Noble hops.

Traditionally, it is believed to hail from Einbeck, Lower Saxony, Germany, "the world's first great center of commercial brewing" (according to Michael Jackson).

On the first Sunday of May, Sly Fox Brewing Company in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, holds Goat Races during the Annual Bock Fest, celebrating the release and tapping of their Spring Maibock. The fest features German food, oom-pah music, and lots of great beer - Slacker Bock, Helles Bock, Instigator Doppelbock, two Eisbocks, Royal Weisse, Rauchbier, Pikeland Pils, Helles Golden Lager, and who-knows-what-other-surprises. The newly-tapped Maibock is named after the winning goat each year. More info:

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by. The jet jockey decided to show off.

The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, "Watch this!" and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?

The C-130 pilot said, "That was impressive, but watch this!"

The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said: "What did you think of that?"

Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, "What the heck did you do?"

The C-130 pilot chuckled. "I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, went to the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun."

When you are young & foolish - speed & flash may seem a good thing !!!

When you get older & smarter - comfort & dull is not such a bad thing !!!

Oskar Blues Brewery is pumpin' out the beer! Their new brewhouse in Longmont, Colorado is 35,000 square feet and has begun producing Dale's Pale Ale. Plans are to expand production to the full line of canned beers. Says Owner Dale Katechis, “Our new walk-in cooler is about the size of our entire brewery in Lyons. And we have plenty of elbow room for more tanks, enough to triple our capacity to around 100,000 barrels down the road.”

Looks like the Apocalypse! Yep, that is one of their flavorful brews: Apocalypse; Bourbon Ten FIDY; Gordon; Hunky Hefeweizen;Leroy, Cherry Russian Imperial Stout; Long Jon Porter; Money Shot; Old Chub Scottish Style Ale; Woutbier; One Nut Brown Ale; Reverend Sandi's Sinful Stout; Mamma's Little Yellow Pilsner...
