Alaska

June 8 2008 Alaska Newsletter

Dear Readers,

I hope you’ve had a good week. The weather has been gorgeous here, with just the right balance of sunshine and rain. The danger of frost is nearly past (a couple more days to go), so it’s been a busy time in the garden. Everything is greening up nicely.

And the salmon are arriving. Our neighbor brought us fresh Copper River red salmon the other day from his fish wheel, which we ate for dinner that night. If you’re not a fish eater, this salmon may convert you – I do not like fish or seafood as a rule, but even I enjoy freshly caught and grilled Copper River red.

Salmon and fishing is a big part of Alaska and I’ll be writing more about it in upcoming weeks. In the meantime, here's the latest article from the Alaska site at BellaOnline.com.

Sarah Palin, Alaska's First Woman Governor
Sarah Palin is a down-to-earth, hard-working, driven mom, who took on the political establishment – and won.
