Unemployment

July 18 2007 Unemployment Newsletter

Hi everyone. I'm Lisa McGrimmon, and I am the new editor for the Unemployment Site at BellaOnline.

I firmly believe that in today's labor market, career management skills are basic life skills that everyone needs. Unfortunately many people don't get an opportunity to really learn those skills. So, I'm thrilled to be editing the Unemployment Site and passing on what I know about surviving and even thriving in the face of unemployment.

If you'd like to learn more about my background, and what qualifies me to write about surviving unemployment, you can view my profile.

Here are the latest articles from the Unemployment Site at BellaOnline.com.

I've started a series on rethinking your career options. The first step in rethinking your options lies in being able to tell the difference between something that's a great opportunity and something that's a big waste of your time and money. You'll find tips on how to make those judgments in my newest article:
Assess Career Opportunities with a Critical Mind

You'll find tips on protecting your career and maintaining your earning power while you're out of work in these two articles:
Returning to Work - Explaining Gaps in Your Work History
Returning to Work - How to Protect Your Earning Potential

Finally, unemployment can have a huge impact on your sense of self worth. You'll find the first in a series of articles I have planned on that topic here:
Maintaining Confidence When You Lose Your Job

Please visit The Unemployment Site at BellaOnline for even more great content about unemployment.

To participate in free, fun online discussions, this site has a community forum all about unemployment located here:
Unemployment Site Forum

I hope to hear from you some time soon, either in the forum or in response to this email message. I truly welcome and appreciate your feedback!

If you know someone who would benefit from the tips in this newsletter, please feel free to pass it along. They can sign up themselves by going here:
