CLEAN THOUGHTS
I'm so excited about an upcoming trip that I want to share with you. My son was thrilled by the movie, "Night in the Museum," and the story of the night guard (Ben Stiller) and the goings-on after dark at the Natural Museum of History in New York City. Steven turns eight years old this year in May. My husband and I talked about what to get him for his birthday and we discussed how much he enjoyed that movie, the book "Balto" about the Alaska Husky who ran over 1,000 miles to deliver diphtheria medicine to sick children in Alaska at the turn of the century (and whose statue stands in Central Park), and his fascination with the Statue of Liberty.
It was then that the perfect birthday gift became clear to us -- a trip to New York City.
An "experience" is better than any toy we can buy, so we booked our tickets and on May 26th, we'll be headed to the Big Apple that day after school is out. We can't wait and Steven is so excited... Ahhh.... New York through a child's eyes. I know it will be great. But, it also involves a hotel stay -- something Steven really loves -- and is the focus of today's feature article.
About ten years ago, I did a short stint as a hotel mystery guest. Yes, they actually exist and I did it. Talk about detailed. Unfortunately the detail revolved around whether paint was chipping and if the front desk would gladly put valuables in a safe for guests. Too little focused on comfort and cleanliness and if I were to run a mystery hotel guest service, you can bet that my focus would be on cleanliness. Today's article is about how to stay in hotels and ensure you have a clean stay -- which makes for a more enjoyable visit. I hope you enjoy it.
After we get back from NYC, we're off for a week in beautiful Costa Rica. We are going to show Steven beautiful rainforests, smoking volcanoes, and warm, friendly people. We are going to make this an eighth birthday he won't forget! I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. In the meantime, I'd love to hear about your upcoming vacation plans (you are planning one, aren't you?) and, as always, your cleaning questions.
Have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Cleaning Editor for Bellaonline
