Hi, I am Francine McKenna, your new German Culture site editor, and I do apologise for having sent out the previous newsletter once again, but here is the current one.

Well it is high summer in Germany and there have been quite a few tropical storms to prove it, but earlier this month one of the most colourful and spectacular of the many German annual summer festivals took place, and that is what is covered in this week’s article.

The Rhine on Fire, or Rhein in Flammen, is a firework and illumination spectacle on the River Rhine, staged alongside a back drop of some of the most beautiful, and historical riverside scenery in Germany, or in fact anywhere.
