Basic Spinach Veggie Juice Recipe

This basic spinach veggie juice recipe is perfect for learning how to go on a juicing fast or cleanse. I have both written instructions and a full video.

Basic Spinach Veggie Juice Recipe I give you the grams of what I use so you can see exactly what is in the excel spreadsheet I also provide. If you weigh the value of each of your ingredients, you can plug those numbers into the spreadsheet to get the exact values for your version.

Ingredients:

6oz water
12 grapes - 49g
4 celery stalks - 74g
1 green onion - 5g
2 inches cucumber - 55g
6 baby carrots - 70g
handful broccoli - 51g
2 handfuls baby spinach - 52g
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder - 15g
ice
1 1/2 tsp agave nectar - 10g (optional)

Start by putting the wetter ingredients into your blender. This is the water and grapes. Then add in the celery stalks, green onion, and cucumber. You can cut or not cut those depending on the skill of your blender. Then add in the carrots, broccoli, and baby spinach. Add in the protein powder on top. Don't add in the nectar yet - that's a to-taste thing.

Top with a handful of ice. How much you use will depend on how thick you want it to be.

Set your blender going. We have a Blendtec blender and we simply press the "whole juice" button. It starts slowly then ramps up to a faster speed and makes it into a completely smooth mix, like a milkshake. There are no chunks at all. Depending on what type of blender or juicer you have, you might need to manually go slow first and then more quickly. If it doesn't naturally settle into the device, stop it to shake it up a bit.

When it's smooth, give it a taste. We all have different sweetness levels we're comfortable with. Some like black coffee. Some like coffee with cream and sugar. Whatever level you're on, add the agave nectar if necessary to make this palatable to you. It's better to drink it with a little agave than to not do juicing at all. In our case for this recipe we added in 1 1/2 tsp of agave nectar.

This makes two full pint glasses worth of juice. That means two servings for us.

So per serving, with the Agave:

calories: 100.2
fat: 0.4
cholesterol: 13.6
sodium: 112.0
total carbs: 16.1
fiber: 2.1
net carbs: 14.0
protein: 6.7
Vitamin C: 45%

If you leave off the agave you get:
calories: 83.7
fat: 0.4
cholesterol: 13.6
sodium: 112
total carb: 11.7
fiber: 2.1
net carb: 9.6
protein: 6.7
Vitamin C: 45%

The spreadsheet also lays out the cost per item so you can calculate it based on your local store costs. From our store, this pair of shakes (i.e. two servings) costs $1.92, so that's under $1 each.

Post in the forums if you have any questions - we're happy to help!
