Free Online Fiction - General Sources, Novel Excepts and Short Stories

What do you do when you’re itching to read something new, but you’re low on funds? Find something for free online! The following are just a few of the free Science Fiction and Fantasy Fiction resources offered online. If you find something great, tell us about it in the forum.

General Sources
The internet has proved to be a great resource for finding fiction no longer under copyright restrictions. Here a few sites that maintain such public domain works:

Page by Page Books: A listing of many free classic books, including Verne, HG Welles, and Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Blackmask Online: There is a science fiction section, although it is poorly organized.

Project Gutenberg: A vast collection of public domain texts, searchable by author or title.

Novel Excerpts
Baen Free Library: Several free science fiction and fantasy novels from Baen publishing.

Infinty Plus: This site is full of free novel excerpts, short stories and non-fiction in the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres.

The Me Clone by Gene Keyes:
A full length novel available for free.

Online Short Stories
Free Speculative Fiction Online: A list of links to free stories online.

Tad Williams' Shadowmarch: Some short fiction relating to the author's Shawdowmarch novels
