April Fool's 2008 Prompts
Guest Author - Melissa Waters

Here are a week's worth of prompts for April Fool's Day. Use them to see what tricks they could bring into your life or your journals:

April Fool's Day holds special meaning to me. It was the day my mother was born 76 years ago. I lost my mother last year and this has been real hard on me. So I am not really in the joking mood this year as this day rolls around. My mother always loved a good joke though especially on her birthday. So in remembrance of her and her love for fun and life, I will be planning and playing out tricks on those that are close to me and remember my mom. To help keep her memory alive.

Day One: Do you look forward to or dread the 1st of April? Why?

Day Two: Do you know what day April 1st is? Do you know anyone close to you that was born on this date? If so would you call them a fool?

Day Three: Do you enjoy practical jokes? or are you always the one that they are played on? Have you been hurt by what started out as a harmless practical joke? If so, share with your journal the hurt and than release these feelings as the words flow on the pages.

Day Four: What is the best practical joke that was played on you on April 1st?
Who was the person that caught you?

Day Five: What was the worst practical joke that was ever played on you on April 1st? Who was the person who tried to catch you up?

Day Six: What is the worst thing you have done as a joke on April 1st?
Who was it done too? Why was it so bad? Did it work or backfire?

Day Seven: What day does April Fool's Day fall on this year? How could this day put a hamper on your usual times of jest? Or if you are really rotten this may encourage you even more the date that is.

Day Eight: Take out your journal and plan the perfect practical joke on someone in your life. Plan it from the start to finish and if you can why not draw out the details in sketch form in your journal. List who you would play this on and how it could be perfectly orchestrated. Than later go back and share with your journal if you had the nerve to play this joke.
