Keeping a Personal Development Journal

A personal development journal can help you to explore and understand the synchronicities, opportunities and challenges that come your way as you work on your spiritual path. Kept well, it will record your experiences and provide you with a place to jot down ideas, messages, or inspiration as you receive it.

Any notebook can become your personal development journal, but to encourage you to revisit and write entries often I suggest treating yourself to a really special journal. I have got a little stack of journals I have filled over the years and I like to look back at them from time to time.

You may record anything you feel is significant in your journal, for example:

-Impressions or sensations you have had while healing or being healed
-Sensations or messages received during meditations
-Dreams
-Moments of synchronicity
-Intuitive experiences
-Interesting exercises from workshops
-Quotations that touch you
-Sketches of images you see in your third eye
-Notes from psychic readings
-Reflections and insights on your spiritual path
-Key points from books you have read
-Questions you want to raise in the forum or in a self development class

You may also want to make your journal into a 'spiritual scrapbook', adding perhaps your aura photograph, inspirational phrases, stories or pictures from magazines and articles. You could also paste in photographs of special places you have visited, or special people you've met on your way. Decorate the pages with faery, angel or butterfly stickers, or use whatever represents spirituality for you.

The journal should be something you feel tempted to turn back to and read again, so make it as lovely as you like. Often when you look back at your journal you will get an 'Aha!' moment, as the pieces of a puzzle slip into place, or you notice connections and patterns. Do keep the journal- you will find it is a tool for reflection and self development, as well as a fascinating document recording your journey.
