Amelia Bedelia is a maid for the Rogers’ family. The maid is kind-hearted and loves life. She constantly gets into humorous situations. That is because she takes everything literally. Children laugh at Amelia Bedelia adventures.
Mrs. Rogers is giving a wedding shower for her friend, Miss Alma. She needs cut flowers in the silver vase. The hedges need to be pruned. Mr. Rodgers gives Amelia Bedelia freshly caught fish. He requests her to scale and ice them. In Amelia Bedelia style, she cuts the flower heads from the stems. The silver vase contains the cut flowers! The hedges are topped with prunes. They are pruned! Later, Miss Alma has a surprise shower from a garden hose.
No one stays mad at Amelia Bedelia. Always something good results from her mistakes. Children love her screwball antics. They want to read the next book in the Amelia Bedelia series. Best of all parents and teachers, children are reading as well as laughing. Amelia Bedelia books create strong readers and increase their vocabulary.
