Bridging to Cadettes

In tracking the most-accessed articles of mine on Bella Online, I've noticed that the bridging article that lists the requirements for Brownies to bridge to Juniors is often forwarded to others. Accordingly, I figured that there is likely to be a similar need for an article that lists the bridge to Cadette requirements.

As a refresher, bridging occurs when girls move to one level to another. Bridging happens when girls reach the end of first grade (when they move to Brownies), the end of third grade (when they move to Juniors), the end of fifth grade (when they move to Cadettes), the end of eighth grade (when they move to Seniors), and the end of tenth grade (when they move to Ambassadors).

A girl does not have to do anything except age to bridge, but if she wants to earn the rainbow bridging insignia, she has to complete certain requirements. In my opinion, the requirements are easily completed just by being active and participating in Girl Scout activities, but the key is to know what the requirements are so that you can do them easily in your last few months on any level.

For Juniors to earn the bridge insignia, the requirements are as follows:

1. Find out about Cadette Girl Scout books. Look through the Cadette Girl Scout Handbook or the Interest Projects for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts and pick three activities that interest you.
2. Find out about GirlSports or other council-sponsored opportunities for Cadette Girl Scouts. Participate in one where Cadette Girl Scouts are also taking part.
3. Do one of the activities you picked in Step One.
4. Participate in a service project with a Cadette Girl Scout. Or participate in a camping or hiking trip with a Cadette Girl Scout troop.
5. Do something with a Cadette Girl Scout or Cadette Girl Scout troop.
6. Help plan your bridging ceremony. Plan ways to make your ceremony meaningful and unique for you and other Junior Girl Scouts who are bridging with you
