Diabetes Self-Help

One quick self-check people can do at home is to measure their waist. Men with 40+ inch waists and women with 35+ inch waists are thought to be at higher risk.

Experts believe that just losing 5% to 10% of total body weight can make a huge difference in helping to protect you from developing diabetes. If you can combine that with at least 20 minutes of daily exercise, such as swimming, biking or an enthusiastic walk, you can be on your way to a happy, healthy future - free from diabetes symtoms.
