Welcome to the July 13th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!


Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

  • Crunchyroll has added Cat God, Usagi Drop, A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives, The Mystic Archives of Dantalian, and Sacred Seven anime series to the site's summer season lineup. Cat God will be simulcast worldwide except for Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macau, Taiwan, Andorra, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Monaco, and Switzerland. Usagi Drop will be simulcast in the United States, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Brazil, and Portugal. A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives and The Mystic Archives of Dantalian will be simulcast in North and South America, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Africa, and the Middle East.
  • Otakuthon has announced that Japanese voice actress Halko Momoi will be a guest at their upcoming event. Momoi's credits include Ai Yori Aoshi, Tales of the Abyss, and Steins;Gate. Otakuthon is taking place in Montreal August 12-14, 2011.
  • AnimEigo has announced on the company's website that its release of You're Under Arrest will go out of print on January 31, 2012.
  • Crunchyroll has added the No. 6 and Twin Angel: Twinkle Paradise anime series to the site's summer lineup. No. 6 will stream on Fridays at 8:00 p.m. EDT in the United States and Canada. Twin Angel: Twinkle Paradise will simulcast on Mondays at 12:45 p.n. EDT in North and South America, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Africa, and the Middle East.
  • Otakon has announced that director Kazuya Murata will be a guest at their upcoming convention. Murata's credits include the upcoming Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos film, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Eureka Seven, and Steel Angel Kurumi. In addition, Otakon is hosting the international premiere of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, and the film will be screening with English subtitles. Otakon is taking place July 29-31, 2011 in Baltimore.
  • Maiden Japan has announced that the company has acquired the license for the Ray anime series. The company will be releasing the series with Section23 Films, and the 13 episodes of the series will be released with English subtitles on DVD and in digital formats.
  • Otakon has announced that director Bob Shirohata and Japanese voice actor Akira Sasanuma will be guests of honor at their upcoming convention. Shirohata's credits include Hetalia - Axis Powers, Gravitation, and Diamond Daydreams. Susanama's credits include Hetalia - Axis Powers (Austria) and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (Dearka Elsman). The two guests will be appearing with the North American anime distributor FUNimation for a premiere event and Q&A panel for the Hetalia World Series anime series. Otakon is taking place July 29-31, 2011 in Baltimore.
  • The Trigun: Badlands Rumble anime film and the video anime project ICE will be screened at the "Pow! Whiz! Bam!" mini-film festival in Los Angeles on August 6, 2011; the festival is being presented by Visual Communications. The screenings are taking place at Tateuchi Democracy Forum. ICE is screening at 5:00 p.m., followed by Trigun: Badlands Rumble at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for the individual showings will be available from July 16 at $10, discounted to $8 for students, seniors, or friends of Visual Communications members; I.D. is required for the discount.
  • Discotek has announced that the company has licensed the first season of the Lupin III anime series, and that the company will be releasing the series on DVD in Spring 2012. The first season consists of 23 episodes; Hayao Miyazaki directed fourteen of the episodes in that season.
  • Otakon has announced that the convention is hosting the premiere of the Angel ScandyS anime series, with director Noboru Ishiguro as a guest. In addition, there will be a concert featuring three of the anime's voice actresses. Ishiguro's credits include Space Battleship Yamato, the 1980 Astro Boy series, the first Macross series and film, and Megazone 23. Otakon is taking place July 29-31, 2011 in Baltimore.
