Dream Symbols - Injury, Illness, Sickness

Dream Symbols - Injury, Illness, Sickness
There are many reports detailing how some individuals have had dreams that have revealed physical illnesses through their symbolism. I had such an experience many years ago. I was experiencing horrific back pain that doctors failed to diagnose for nine years. Several years before I was finally diagnosed with a grade three spondylolisthesis and underwent a spinal fusion, I dreamed of having an extremely large nail removed from my back. Two titanium rods and four huge screws were installed in my spine. That surgery took place in 1999 and the only effect it had on the pain was to increase it. Again I was told that I was fine. In October of 2004 the hardware was removed. One rod was broken in half and the other was bent. My dream was definitely predictive.

Others have dreamed of swallowing strange objects or having things in their bodies that don't belong there. Some have later been diagnosed with tumors or other conditions. If you have not been feeling well and feel that your dream may be pointing to a physical problem, insist that your doctor investigate. Some doctors actually have faith in dreams and prayer. You may have to actively search for one.

Dreams of injuries and illness do not always symbolize a physical illness in waking life. These dreams often represent emotional and spiritual issues. For instance, dreaming of heart problems may symbolize a broken heart if you have recently been hurt. Dreaming of breaking a leg or foot may symbolize an inability to move forward. The part of the body that is injured or ill can tell you quite a bit about the issue your unconscious is trying to communicate. Try to relate the dream to recent issues in waking life to determine its interpretation.

If you dream that someone else is ill or injured, apply the same method and reflect upon what that person symbolizes to you. Dreaming of a sick or injured loved one may simply symbolize worry or anxiety about them.

May all your dreams come true!
