From the time I wanted to write for this Alaska site on BellaOnline, I've waited for this month of November. It's Alaska Native Heritage Month. While the site seems to draw more travel interest, the culture aspect is important as well. Alaska is a great and wonderous state, and while we go to visit and see the magnificent beauty, we must remember where that started. The natives of Alaska are the roots, the keepers, and the history. Without their reverence of nature and understanding of subsistence before it was called that, there would not be as much available for the rest of us to enjoy. The natives are generation upon generation of history and traditions that are passed down and must continue to do so, or Alaska loses the foundation of what began the great state.
This month will feature the Alaska Natives. I hope you enjoy the information as much as I do.
