Springtime is just around the corner and this classic Eric Carle story is perfect to feature in your class if you are a early childhood teacher. One of my focuses in 2007 is flannel board use in the classroom. With the onset of the technological age the powerful, personnel use of the flannel board as a teaching tool has become lost in the shuffle. Some of the stories will require your participation (i.e. creating the set) so dust off your creativity hat. Don't be too panicked though, I will be with you in spirit every step of the way. If you don't already have a flannel board, you can purchase one (a link has been provided for you at the end of the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" article)or you can choose to make your own. By mid March my ebook compiled of sample lesson plans that accompany the flannel board stories I feature will be made available to you for purchase.
