Keep you eyes open for new brews from your favorite local brewpubs and microbreweries.  Every season has its unique style, and Spring is no exception.

A few recommendations to get you started:
St. Boisterous - Victory Brewing Company, Downingtown, Pennsylvania, USA - Maibock / Helles Bock - Golden bodied with a thick, creamy, silky white head and captivating aroma.  Light fruit esters of apple blend with bready malts and nutty Vienna flavors.  Compels you to surrender to its
tantalizing temptation. The mouthfeel is  velvety...like sexxxx in a glass!!!

Whirlwind Witbier - Victory Brewing Company, Downingtown, Pennsylvania, USA - Belgian-style Witbier - Hazy straw body with meringue-like head of white emits complex aromatics of grapefruit, orange wedges, lemon, coriander and spices.  Assertive wheat backbone adds a sweetness to the complex tart tones and exotic spice.  Soft and lasting on the palate.

Heller Hound Bock - Flying Dog Brewing Company, Denver, Colorado, USA - Clear gold with tight, white head and clean Munich malt base, decorated with notes of juicy pear and florals.  Pure, quenching, and beautifully balanced.

Skull Splitter - Rogue Ales Brewery/Brewers on the Bay - Portland, Oregon, USA - American Strong Ale - John's Locker Stock Special Release pours an opaque, walnut brown with tawny brown head.  Sweet malt tones with a huge punch of Northwestern hops - pine needles covering the ground, grapefruit peel and lemon citrus.  Slick mouthfeel begs you to yield to its overtures.

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

Two married buddies are out drinking one night when one turns to the other and says, "You know, I don't know what else to do.  Whenever I go home after we've been out drinking, I turn the headlights off before I get to the driveway.  I shut off the engine and coast into the garage.  I take my shoes off before I go into the house, I sneak up the stairs, I get undressed in the bathroom.  I ease into bed and my wife STILL wakes up and yells at me for staying out so late!"

His buddy looks at him and says, "Well, you're obviously taking the wrong approach.  I screech into the driveway, slam the door, storm up the steps, throw my shoes into the closet, jump into bed, rub my hands on my wife's
butt and say, 'Lets do it!'

...and she's always sound asleep.

Beer News:

An American Beer reaped top honors at the Bier Encore Une Fois Festival this year in Caan, France.  Olympia Gold by Pabst Brewing Company, San Antonio, Texas, USA won Best World-Class Beer for its light, watery taste, with only 70 calories and 6 carbs. Its catchy slogan, "It's the water," was applauded for honesty in advertising, because it effectively describes the beer's characteristics.   The unique aromatics of water, blended with the water flavor profile, makes for a highly drinkable beer.

It received extra points for its effectiveness in cleaning road grime from truck tires.

Craft Brew of the Week Award:

Harvest Ale - Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Chico, California, USA
Style:  American Pale Ale

Body lays clear and copper, while a frothy, sticky, cream-colored head sits above leaving solid sheets of lace on the inner recesses of the glassware.  A big bouquet of hops greets the nose - grass, pine and citrus - blended with a satiating sense of freshly baked French bread. The slick, malt sweetness is cut with sharp hop overtones that play "in-your-face" symphonies on the tongue.
