Here's the latest article from the LDS site at BellaOnline.com:
"Your Children Quarantined for 3+ Months or More?"
We live in a time of uncertainty. Although this is not news for those familiar with scripture and prophetic utterances, sometimes reality hits hard. BYU Idaho has come out with a training film for pandemics that is urgent. Are you ready if your children had to be quarantined ... even away from you? http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art56277.asp
This is an unpleasant topic, but one that is of great concern to me. Do my children have spiritual knowledge of God their Father and of Jesus Christ? Do they have a witness that the Lord blesses all those who turn to Him during trial?
Not only this, but do my children have skills to aid other people during a tragedy? I want my kids to have scriptures memorized, hymns or Primary tunes learned, and first aid skills sufficient to help others. I want them to have emotional resiliency and yes, even a sense of humor. This way, if my kids were separated from me for any length of time, they could at least stay busy helping others till we were reunited ... and the time apart could be a strengthening one for all involved.
I think it is important for us all to remember: God does not give a spirit of fear, but of preparation. Perhaps that is why we hear so often: if we are prepared we shall not fear.
I hope these new series of articles on preparedness will bless your family's life. Feel free to pass them on to others you feel might need them. And as always, let me know if you would like to see an article on a particular topic!
Warmly,
