Dear Readers,
Spring brings very unpredictable and fluctuating weather here. Early in the week we had beautiful clear blue skies and warm temperatures – we hit 60° F a couple of days, unusually warm for this time of year. But as the weekend approached, so did a storm. While here in Chistochina we experienced wind gusting to 30 mph (and the commonplace power outage during high winds), the Kenai Peninsula and Anchorage experienced heavy snow. According the Anchorage Daily News, up to two feet of snow was expected overnight in some places!
In spite of the changeable weather, though, I have a greenhouse (heated) full of seedlings: cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, lettuce and a variety of herbs. Walking into the warm and moist air of the greenhouse and seeing all the new life sprouting in there is a good antidote for gloomy clouds.
