Welcome herb enthusiasts!

My name is Evelyn Roether and I am the new BellaOnline Herb Editor.

As a gardener and a student of natural living, I am excited to delve into this realm of learning with you. I have gathered a lot of information over the years about growing herbs, healing properties of herbs and making herbal medicines. I have dabbled in creating beautiful things with herbs and am interested in the subject of ethnobotany. So on this webpage, I will share with you my thoughts and ideas about all things herbal. I hope you will do the same. I would love to hear from you!

Once you enter into the world of herbs, it can easily become a way of life. In adopting a lifestyle that includes herbs, we are reconnecting with our heritage, with our grandmothers, with the earth.

It is not surprising that as a society, we have rediscovered the many facets of herbs in recent times. Rather, it is odd that we would ever choose to ignore the many uses of these plants in our midst. Whether we use them for cooking, medicine, skin care, decoration, or just enjoy them as companion plants in our gardens, herbs are all around us!

The Herb site on BellaOnline is laid out so that you can go quickly to the topic area you are most interested in, including those mentioned above. As this site develops, there will be articles and links within each subject area that will introduce you to the topics and then give you follow up options. One option is to subscribe to my newsletter.

When you subscribe to my Herbal News Newsletter, you will find up to date information on the latest trends, research findings and ideas pertaining to herbs and herbal products. I will regularly be perusing media releases, books and articles and bringing you tips and links to stay current on developments in the herb world. If there’s something you’ve read that you’d like me to look into further, please let me know. I aim to please!

To sign up for the Herbal News Newsletter, you can simply click the box to the right of this article labeled “Free Newsletter”. Please know that BellaOnline will never give or sell your name to anyone else. You will not get spam from us. All you will get is what you asked for: the Herbal News Newsletter. If you want to unsubscribe at any time, it’s as easy as pressing a button.

One more thing you should know about me. I am not a professional herbalist, so please don’t take my word as gospel. I research my subject matter thoroughly and can provide references for information that I present, but am not qualified to prescribe or even recommend herbal medicines. Please consult a medical practitioner before ingesting any medicinal herbs. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for joining me on this quest for knowledge. Let’s share our discoveries!
