August 4 2006 Literary Fiction Newsletter

Hello Literary Fiction Readers,

I'm back from visiting the in-laws and working on catching up on everything. It's nice to visit but oh so good to be home. Jeff and I joke we come home for a break. We came back to some nasty hot weather but fortunately it's broken... a bit.

Currently, I'm reading Matches by Alan Kaufman (I took it with me on holidays). It has been a difficult read with all that is going on in Israel at the moment. It's the story of an American Jew who has chosen to join the Israeli army. As Dave Eggers says on the cover, "this is strange writing".
