Chocolate-Caramel-Nut Clusters

Make luscious, homemade chocolate-caramel-nut clusters, often referred to as cashew patties or turtles.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted nuts - cashews, almonds, pecans or jumbo peanuts
  • 2 milk chocolate candy bars (3 oz. each) or 6 oz. milk chocolate melting wafers
  • 30 caramel candies, such as Kraft® caramels

  • Preparation -
Preheat oven to 300°. Unwrap the caramel candies and place them several inches apart on a buttered baking sheet. (The caramels must remain separated, even after melting ... use a large baking sheet or 2 smaller baking sheets.) Place in oven and bake at 300° for about eight minutes, or until the caramels are melted and soft but not runny. Remove from the oven. Press about 6 nuts into each melted caramel. Let cool. Place the chocolate candy bars or chocolate melting wafers in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on full power for about one minute, or until the chocolate is melted, stopping to stir after 30 seconds. Spoon melted chocolate on top of each caramel/nut mound. Allow the chocolate to cool and harden completely before placing in paper candy cups.
