Chocolate Chip Cookies -Neiman Marcus version

  • 5 cups rolled oats
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 24 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 - 18 oz. milk chocolate Hershey Bar (grated)
  • 3 cups chopped pecans or walnuts

Preparation -
Process the oats in a blender or food processor to a fine powder. In a mixing bowl, combine the oatmeal powder with the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. Cream the butter and both sugars together. Add the eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips, grated chocolate bar and nuts. Roll the batter into balls, about 1" to 1 1/2" round each, and place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated oven at 375º for 10 minutes. Remove from the cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
