BellaOnline's Attention Deficit Disorder Editor

College Life with ADD

When an editor comes on board at BellaOnline, they make the site their own. As editors, we are responsible for choosing our content. We write about our subjects, which we are passionate about. Our writing comes from our expertise, research, questions from readers, and what we see is necessary to make the site well-rounded.

After writing a couple of articles about college living, I became aware of the need for a series of articles. The need for a group of articles made me consider putting them into a separate category. This week I am unveiling the College Life category within the Attention Deficit Disorder site at BellaOnline.

Many of our young folks struggle with school. The last thing that they think that they need is four more years of pain. However, when all that they have is a high school education or GED, they are limiting their choices and their income potential. As older people with ADD, we realize that. I want students of all ages to understand what they need to do to succeed in college. That is what this category is about.

There are already two articles in the category. Here are their descriptions:

Planning for College with ADD
Students with Attention Deficit Disorder who want to go to college need to start planning long before their senior year in high school. Early planning may make the difference between a painful affair or a positive experience.

College Living with Attention Deficit Disorder
Many students with Attention Deficit Disorder plan to go to college. Yes, planning is the key for a successful college experience! What kind of living situation makes sense for a kid with ADD? That depends on the kid, and they should reflect on their needs to find their best living circumstances.

I will be adding more articles, and I want suggestions from readers. What do you need to know to be successful in college? Here are articles that I think are necessary:
*choosing a college
*picking a class schedule
*study habits and ADD
*college time management and ADD
*staying organized in college with ADD
*nutrition in college and ADD
*social life in college with ADD
*managing school breaks and ADD
*resources for college and ADD
*financial aid and ADD

I completed my Bachelor’s degree when I was forty-two-years-old. Attention Deficit Disorder had a lot to do with that delayed degree. The first time that I went to college, I “crashed and burned,” as we used to say when I was younger. When I went back, I had more of an understanding of what the college experience was like. Some of us have to learn from those hard, teaching experiences. Others can glimpse what is needed from reading information. I hope to help people with ADD have a more successful and less painful entry into college. That’s what this College Life category is all about
