Narcissists Here, There, And Everywhere

Narcissists Here, There, And Everywhere
It seems like there's an epidemic of personality disorders in people these days. Narcissists appear to be here, there and everywhere. They are people who think that the world revolves around them. Its sad but true. They are attention seekers. They are guys and girls who are just like Narcissus in Greek mythology, who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water.

Well, they have a right to be all about themselves if they choose to be, but unfortunately that is also often accompanied by them thinking that they have the right to be treated like theyre special.

This seems to lead them to believe:

They should receive attention and admiration at all times, from all people.
That they are entitled to do or say anything they want with no consequences.
That they have the right to mistreat everyone around them.

Many appear to move from relationship to relationship to feed their ego. They love receiving admiration and attention from a multitude of people who seem to worship and desire them and their attention, which they often give and take away on a whim. Some people are very impressed by them and love to be around them, while others flee the drama to a calmer zone.

Narcissists are also often the people who love to use social media posts like Facebook and Twitter, and real life scenarios to make those who love them jealous of their interactions with others. It seems to provide the attention that they crave. Narcissism is a well documented personality disorder with underlying causes and it should be treated by a qualified medical professional.

According to Mayo Clinic a narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorders believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

Sadly, they often leave a trail of broken hearts and shatter the lives of people who sought only to be close to them, while they simply wanted nothing but continuous attention. Day after day it seems that their game continues and goes on and on and on ... Too often at the expense of other people's feelings. Relationships with narcissists are generally all about them and their wants and needs. They often leave their partners and friends wondering what they did wrong to make them not like them anymore or if they were just an unlucky participant in a cruel game.

If you've been involved with a narcissist you may be feeling like you're on an emotional roller coaster ride and should not hesitate to seek professional counseling.

Until next time, have a warm heart but be COOL! Be happy, be well, and be the best you that you can be!
