List of the Tales from the Odyssey

Mary Pope Osborne writes the Tales from the Odyssey series based on Homer’s The Odyssey. The Odyssey is an epic sea adventure poem. Odysseus is a conquering hero of the Trojan War. It was his idea to build the Trojan horse. Now the Trojan War is finished. The tired Odysseus wants to return home. Unfortunately, he angers Poseidon, a Greek god. And, Greek gods have terrible tempers. Odysseus is doomed to a twenty-year sea voyage before reaching his homeland, wife and son.

Mary Pope Osborne retells Odysseus’ adventures on his homeward voyage. She writes using her trademark early chapter book format. The series contains six books. The popular author introduces children to the characters whom Odysseus encounters on his voyages. The Tales from the Odyssey is a great way to familiarize young children with the sea adventure. Reading Homer’s The Odyssey in High School is easier when the student is already acquainted with the epic poem.
