Old Howl Hall Big Lift-And-Look Book - Book Review

Old Howl Hall Big Lift-And-Look Book is by Mercer Mayer. The children board book has ten pages of silly, spooky fun. There many flaps for curious children. They lift the flaps and discover many, many secrets in the mansion. Also, there are Halloween characters lurking behind the flaps. The lift-the-flap book is for six-year-old children and younger.

The owner invites the children to tour Old Howl Hall. Children turn the board book’s pages and view different rooms in the mansion. Each room in the house is spooky. Cobwebs hang from the ceiling. There is a dark, grubby look to the rooms. Just the place to visit on Halloween.

Mercer Mayer takes the reader down a stairway to the mansion’s basement. There is a haunted laboratory. Children’s busy fingers search for the laboratory’s secrets by lifting flaps. There are other rooms to explore on the grand tour. Lift the flaps and see the house’s secrets.

The Old Howl Hall Big Lift-And-Look Book teaches children the alphabet, shapes and colors. The book is set up so children are unaware they are learning. They are interested in the different rooms in the mansion. Sneaky, but glorious Mercer Mayer has children learning basic concepts necessary for development of language skills.
