Spot's Easter Surprise Board Book

Spot’s Easter Surprise is by Eric Hill. It is spring. The golden puppy with brown spots celebrates Easter. In the board book, Spot and his friends hunt for Easter eggs at his grandparent’s house.

In Spot’s Easter Surprise, children see and recognize a Spring tradition. An Easter egg hunt is in progress. Kids love to hunt for Easter eggs. Steve and all of Spot’s friends each find an Easter egg. Spot finds a large Easter egg. He shares it with his grandma and grandpa. Children learn the art of sharing their eggs when seeing the pleasure on the grandparents’ faces.

Eric Hill’s target audience is children between the ages two and five-years-old. He uses large print so they can focus clearly on the words. One simple sentence is on every two pages. The action on the page correlates to the sentence.

Spot’s Easter Surprise does not have lift-the-flaps. The board book is eight ½ x 6 inches. Thick pages make it easy for small hands to turn the pages. The glossy finish means parents and care givers can easily wipe liquids off the pages. Eric Hill’s illustrations have rich colors. Use the colors to reinforce children’s knowledge of colors. Also, Eric Hill’s sentences end with a period or question mark. Older children can learn punctuation.
