Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake Recipe
Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake Dump cakes are quick and easy to make. There's nothing to measure. Ingredients are just dumped into a mixing bowl or directly into the baking pan. They're great take-a-long desserts for potlucks and summer picnics. This recipe makes about 12 servings.
- 1 can (20 oz.) crushed pineapple - do not drain
- 1 can (21 oz). cherry pie filling, regular or light
- 1 package (18.25 oz.) yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 stick (1/4 lb.) butter

Preparation - In a large mixing bowl, combine the undrained crushed pineapple and the cherry pie filling. Add the dry cake mix and stir just until combined. Pour the mixture into a 9" X 13" baking pan. Sprinkle the nuts evenly over the top.. Cut the butter into thin slices. Lay the pats of butter on top, placed evenly over the chopped nuts. Bake in a preheated oven at 350º for 35 to 40 minutes or until the filling is bubbly and the top is golden brown. Cool before serving or serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Alternately you can just dump the crushed pineapple and cherry pie filling right into the pan. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the fruit. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the cake mix. Place pats of butter on top and bake as directed above. |
