BMR Calculator - Metabolism Calculator

Need to know how many calories your body needs as a base every day? This calculator should help you figure that out. It determines your Basal Metabolic Rate, or BMR. This is what your body burns just by existing. It should be a starting guideline. If you do any activity at all, that will require extra calories in to fuel those actions.

With this many calories, and no activity, your body should be able to maintain its current weight. If you went below this number of calories, your body would begin to lose weight. Note that there are also medical conditions, involving the thyroid, that can affect your body's natural metabolism.

It's important to note that this is your base level. Activity is in addition to this base level. To figure out how many calories your body needs including your activity levels, you would use the Harris-Benedict Equation.
