Anxiety & Panic Attacks in Hypothyroid Patients  The relationship between hypothyroidism and anxiety symptoms, is well established in medical research conclusions. Severe and chronic anxiety is not exclusive to hyperthyroid patients but also affects many that are hypothyroid. Anxiety Catastrophic Thinking  Catastrophic Thinking is a term for the scarey thoughts that can accompany severe anxiety. These types thoughts include fears of losing control, passing out, looking foolish in front of others etc... In this article I point out that these "what if" thoughts are irrational and not dangerous. Anxiety Coping for Thyroid Patients  With anxiety so common in thyroid patients, like other anxiety sufferers they should learn basic facts that will help them to cope and even overcome the symptoms. This article helps us gain a basic understanding about anxiety and how it can actually help us positively by learning to re-direct it. Anxiety with Thyroid Hormone Therapy  When some hypothyroid patients are started on hormone replacement therapy, they will experience anxiety reactions to their medication. Do Anti-depressants Affect Thyroid Hormone Levels?  Antidepressant medications are helpful to many people and are commonly prescribed to thyroid patients. Medical research has concluded that these drugs may affect thyroid hormone levels in the body. Hypothyroid Therapy & SSRI Antidepressants  SSRI antidepressants are wonderful and helpful drugs, for the right people who are in need of them. I feel it is important however, for a hypothyroid patient undergoing hormone replacement therapy, to make sure unresolved symptoms are not due to thyroid under-treatment, rather than emotions. Hypothyroid Therapy and Anxiety/Depression  When some patients with hypothyroidism, are not treated adequately with hormone replacement therapy or even optimized on it, they may experience unresolved symptoms of anxiety and depression. Iodine a Factor in Hypothyroidism?  While iodine deficiency can certainly be a factor in causing hypothyroidism, according to medical research, it is not common in industrialized countries, including the USA. This is Thyroid Awareness Month (January)  January is the month recognized nationally as "Thyroid Awareness Month" and helps in gaining public awareness of the importance of recognizing thyroid symptoms and in being tested for thyroid diseases/disorders. Thyroid Autoimmunity and Chronic Anxiety  It is believed by many doctors, that thyroid patients will only experience anxiety as a symptom, when they have hyperthyroidism. Medical research articles state that "thyroid autoimmunity" can potentially cause chronic anxiety in patients who also have hypothyroidism. The cause of this disorder, can be endocrine disorders, such as thyroid disease and diabetes but can also originate from neurological disorders in the brain.
