The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt

The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt
Judy Moody and Stink are together again in The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt. Megan McDonald is the author of the popular early chapter books. Peter H. Reynolds illustrates the brother and sister pirate book. The juvenile mystery book has a hundred and fifteen pages which they divide into nine chapters. Ms. McDonald’s target age groups are children in the second and third grades. Parents, teachers and caregivers may read the fun story to younger kids.

Judy Moody and Stink along with their parents take a weekend cruise to an island. Stink fans know how easily his imagination goes into overdrive. Stink wears an eyepatch, carries a spyglass and constantly quotes ‘Pirate Rules.’ Ho, ho, there is a treasure hunt game which he and Judy promptly enter. The contestants must follow clues to find silver coins. The party to find all the coins wins. Now Mad Molly and Scurvy Stink has some arch rivals, as Tall Boy and Smart Girl. Will the Moody brother and sister team scour the island first?

Megan McDonald writes another fun book in her early reader series. It captures the imagination of boys and girls who love pirate stories. She fills the text with pirate slang and lingo. The author references pirates of old, and as always, writes loads of good, clean fun. Megan McDonald ends the treasure book with Stink Moody’s often quoted ‘Pirate Rules.’

Peter H. Reynolds creates his illustrations digitally. The colors are bright and fresh. The pictures in the book beautifully support the text. Readers will understand the clues and situations which Judy and Stink find themselves. His characters in Judy Moody and Stink The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt are multicultural and appeal to a variety of kids.
