As June heads to its end and July beckons it is time to break out cold white wines. Popular brand Australian Yellow Tail is launching its new un-oaked Chardonnay and inviting everyone tomorrow 22 June to share their thoughts using Twitter and their website, as I report in the latest article.

New York State is known for the quality of their white wines, especially Riesling but a lot of other interesting white wines are made there, including Rkatsiteli which isn't as difficult to pronounce as it looks -- just say are-kat-see-telly emphasising the first syllable. Wine newcomers find much to enjoy in New York's semi sweet wines made from locally bred hybrids and there are almost 50 different varieties grown around those lakes so you are sure to find something that delight.

I will be visiting New York's Finger Lakes wineries during the week of 12 July as a guest of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation so if there is anything you want to know about New York wines and Finger Lakes in particular please ask me either via the forum or directly by email. And if you have any suggestions for me please do say. I won't be returning home straight away but will remain for a couple of weeks sightseeing and hope to go to Bar Harbor in Maine where we spent happy days more than 30 years ago.

I haven't sent out one of these newsletters for a few weeks because I worry about overloading your email inboxes. Below are details of articles posted in the past month, and in the next few weeks I will be writing about a device called the WineDiaper which promises to prevent leakages when you travel with wine, plus a series on air travel when carrying wine and I'll be looking at why there are 12 bottles in a case of wine.
