Haunted Places I Visited in Arizona
On my vacation last week, I visited several haunted locations in Arizona. Here is my account of the Jerome Grand Hotel, and the Red Garter Bed & Bakery in Williams.
Hunter Steakhouse in Oceanside, CA
Built on the site of an old cemetery, the Hunter Steakhouse has had many reported incidents of paranormal activity.
Dark Spectre in the Cemetery
Several years ago, my dog and I were on our nightly walk through the cemetery near our home. Usually, our moonlit walks are fairly uneventful . . . we might see a herd of deer or a raccoon once-in-a-while. Sometimes, though, we encounter something or someone very unexpected.
Haunted Garden House Bed and Breakfast
In 2006, representatives from NBC’s Today Show contacted the Garden House Bed and Breakfast in Hannibal, Missouri, to film a documentary that October. After filming the segment, The Today Show listed the Garden House as one of the top ten places in America to sleep with a ghost.
New Jersey Devil a/k/a the Leeds Devil
Although there are many devilish creatures throughout the world, there’s a famous devil in New Jersey that is known as the Jersey Devil. This particular horned one has been sighted thousands of times throughout New Jersey and in Pennsylvania over the last two hundred years.
The Bucca Boo fairies were brought to the United States with the Cornish when they immigrated into America to work in the western Pennsylvania coal mines in the 1820s. They became known as Tommyknockers in the U.S.
Haunted Stone Lion Inn in Guthrie, Oklahoma
Reports of footsteps, laughter, pats on the face from little hands, and other supernatural occurrences are often reported at the Stone Lion Inn in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
The Drummer of Tidworth (Tedworth)
A tale of poltergeist activity afflicting the Mompesson family in Tidworth, England in the early 1660s.
A Tale of MoMo (Missouri Monster)
Yesterday morning, I drove one of the most beautiful, scenic Mississippi River roads in the country to Louisiana, Missouri, where I talked with Gail Suddarth, long time resident of Louisiana. In 1972, when Gail was about seven years old, she was instrumental in perpetuating the MoMo legend.
Clarendon Hills’ Country House Restaurant
Without a doubt, my next train trip to Chicago will include a visit just west of the city, to the Country House, for a burger and a Bloody Mary. I admit I like a good burger, but that won’t be the only reason I’ll be stopping by the Country House . . .
