These traditional Irish selections accompanied with new age instrumentation are just beautiful. If you close your eyes, the lilting sounds take you right into the Irish countryside. And what better place to be when you want to relax and get back to your natural roots of harmony!
The first time I listened to this CD I immediately stopped what I was doing and began to feel relaxed. Loreena McKennitt has brought forth a real treasure in these songs and sounds reminiscent of Celtic music.
While the holidays are a good excuse for listening to it, the music is not so overwhelming that it is inappropriate for listening to any time of the year.
I particularly like it for a music meditation or deep relaxation meditation. To do the music meditation lie on your back, take a few even regular breaths such as breathe in counts 1, 2; breathe out counts 1, 2; breathe in counts 1, 2; and continue this rhythmic pattern for a minute. Then, let go of the counting and absorb yourself in the sounds of the music.
Try to follow the individual instruments; give yourself over to the music so completely that you forget your worldly concerns for the time being. Ahhhhhhhhhh, so relaxed.
Take time to listen to these tunes as often as needed when events in life get hectic!
Highly recommended!
The selections are:
Coventry Carol; God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen; Good King Wenceslas; Snow; and Seeds of Love.
