Walking Meditation for Kids in Several Languages


Here are translations of a basic walking meditation for children -- an outlet for stress and a time for problem solving.

All translations are from the English meditation.

Walking Meditation for Children

Time: At least 2 minutes

This practice develops concentration and balances the body and mind.

Take a walk while swinging arms easily back and forth. (When the left foot steps forward, the right arm swings forward. And, when the right foot steps forward the left arm swings forward.)

While walking concentrate on breathing evenly in and out.

Example:
Breath in on one step and breathe out on the next step, or take 2 steps breathing in and 2 steps breathing out.

To finish, stretch arms overhead, bring arms down to sides, resume other activities.

Lopende meditatie

Minstens 2 minuten

Deze oefening ontwikkelt het concentratievermogen en kalmeert geest en lichaam.

Maak een wandeling waarbij de armen losjes naar voren en naar achteren zwaaien. (De rechter arm zwaait tegelijk met de linker voet naar voren en de linker arm met de rechter voet.)

Tijdens het wandelen concentreer je je op een gelijkmatig in- en uitademen.

Voorbeeld:
Tel 1: adem in
Tel 2: adem uit
Tel 3: adem in
Ga rustig door met tellen …

Tot slot strek je je armen boven het hoofd, laat ze dan zakken tot naast het lichaam en ga verder met andere activiteiten.
