Cranberry Apple Pie Recipe

Cranberry Apple Pie

  • 6 Gala or Golden Delicious Apples
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 T. orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 T. butter
  • pie dough for a 9" double crust pie
Preparation -
Peel, core, and cut the the apples into 8 wedges each. Toss the apples, cranberries and orange juice together in a large mixing bowl. Combine the sugar, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a separate bowl. Gently stir the dry ingredients into the apples and cranberries. Pour the mixture into a 9" pie dish lined with an unbaked pie crust. Dot with butter. Top with the remaining pie crust. Flute edges; cut slits in the top crust top crust. Bake at 400º for 45 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 375º. Cover the pie loosely with aluminum foil. Bake for an additional 20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack . Serve warm or chilled.
