Fried Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

Fried Mozzarella Sticks

Serve this popular appetizer with marinara sauce on the side.

  • 1 lb. piece mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • vegetable oil for frying

Preparation -
Slice the piece of mozzarella cheese, lengthwise, into 1/2" thick sticks. Whisk the beaten eggs and water together; set aside. Mix the flour and corn starch together; set aside. Mix the bread crumbs, oregano, basil and garlic powder together; set aside. Dip the mozzarella cheese sticks in the flour mixture, then in egg/water mixture, then in the bread crumb mixture. Deep-fry in vegetable oil at 350º until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel lined plate. Serve hot, with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
