The Hurricane Mystery Gertrude Chandler Warner writes The Hurricane Mystery #54. The Boxcar Children: Violet, Benny, Jessie and Henry Alden return in another top-notched mystery. The paperback book has hundred-twenty pages. Intended readers are tweens between nine and twelve-years-old. Parents and teachers can read the mystery book aloud to younger kids. The Alden brothers and sisters are on the road again. They are traveling with Grandfather Alden and Watch their dog. A hurricane has damaged Mrs. Ashleigh’s property in Charleston, South Carolina USA. She is a friend of Grandfather Allen. He and his grandchildren are going to help the family friend repair the storm damage. The Alden family arrives on Sullivan’s Island. It is a small island with large stately homes. They find the place is a wreck. Hurricane winds have blown the front gate off the property, but the kids retrieve it. Between the repair jobs, the Alden children discover a treasure map. Rumors say that an ancestor of Mrs. Ashleigh’s was a pirate. Is there a cache of gold to be found? The boxcar children do not take the map seriously, until the treasure map is stolen from Benny. Maybe there is some truth to the rumors? Otherwise, why steal an useless map? The boy and girl detectives delve into the mystery. Will the Boxcar Children reclaim the treasure map? Will they find a true pirate’s hidden gold? Boxcar Children mysteries have delighted kids and adults for decades. Although Gertrude Warner no longer writes the books, able ghostwriters continue the mystery stories. The Hurricane Mystery #54 is one of the best. It is a mystery and pirate story in one. The writer avoids slow spots in the action adventure story. Pirate Story Books for Children "A home without books is a body without soul."---Marcus Tullius Cicero Drop in the forum.
