Maisy's Nature Walk - A Maisy First Science Book Maisy’s Nature Walk is by Lucy Cousins. The colorful mouse is back in A Maisy First Science Book. In the Maisy book, toddlers explore the exciting creatures found in nature. It is a bright sunny day. Maisy takes a nature walk and explores the many creatures in her yard. On each page of the interactive picture book, the reader helps Maisy find common objects found in nature. Seeds, seedlings and a busy bee for inquisitive toddlers are there to find. Later, the reader and Maisy find a caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly. Many more pages follow with nature's objects. Maisy’s Nature Walk is a colorful first science book for toddlers (ages 2-5). Many common animals and objects found outdoors are there for children to identify and learn their names. As always, Maisy Mouse books do not overwhelm the toddler. She gives the reader a good knowledge of the ordinary objects. Lucy Cousins’ illustrations are colorful. She outlines the objects in black which makes it easy for small children to focus on the objects. Ms. Cousins writes her words in large black type. Since she uses vivid colors, parents and care givers can teach children colors and their names. Maisy’s Nature Walk is a ‘pull the tabs’ picture book. This makes the toddler an active participant in the reading process. Children love to pull the tabs and lift-the flaps to discover nature with Maisy. After reading Maisy’s Nature Walk, take children outside to discover the animals and flowers. Toddlers delight learning about the natural world around them. Also, they teach adults to enjoy nature with a new perspective. Take a blanket outside and sit. Children like to study the blades of grass and the bugs which crawl on them. Lay back on the blanket and study the clouds and the animals in the trees. We live in a fascinating world. Share this beautiful natural world with toddlers this year.
